Tulane Remote Internship: Sports 1 Marketing - Digital Marketing Intern



This internship is part of the Tulane Remote Internship Program.By submitting your resume for any TRIP positions, you are agreeing to the following requirements. These internships will be completed FROM NEW ORLEANS and will include a trip to the employer and their city over Fall Break. All Fall Remote Internships will be posted by August 20, 2018. It is imperative that you review the below thoroughly prior to submitting your resume and cover letter for any positions.

PROGRAM DETAILS

# of Applications: Students are only allowed to apply to THREE Remote Internships. If you apply for more than three you will be disqualified from the program. Students can search through other Remote Internships by viewing the Handshake employer, Tulane Remote Internship Program.

Orientation Sessions: If selected, you MUST attend one of our virtual orientation sessions on October 1 or 2.

Credit/Reflection Papers: Remote Interns will receive academic credit for the internship and are required to complete a reflection at the end of the semester, due on December 21. These internships are unpaid.

Required Site Visit during Fall Break: Remote Interns will make a site visit to their company and city with expenses paid by Tulane during Fall Break (October 11 or 12). Applicants should not make alternative plans for Fall Break until they are notified that they are not selected for interviews (all interview candidates will be announced on September 10) or for participation in the program after the interview rounds (all intern selections will be made on or before September 24).

Office Hours: Remote Interns will work 6-10 hours per week, based on employer preferences. Remote Interns will work remotely from the location of your and your employer's choice (on campus, coffee shop, dorm room/apartment, etc.) Remote interns will set weekly office hours with employers, log daily hours and work summaries, and complete online check-ins for Tulane as a part of the internship process.

Resume (Required): Each of these internships require an approved Handshake resume. In order for our career center staff to expedite the review and approval of your resume, please upload your resume in the following format - "TRIP - LAST NAME, RESUME". Once your resume is approved, you can use the same resume for all of your submissions. Resume approval can take up to 48 hours, so do not wait until the last minute to submit. IE if your resume requires additional work based on career center staff suggestions, if you want until 2 days before deadline to submit, you still might not have an approved resume by program deadline.

Cover Letters (Required): Cover letters - written individually for each internship, should be submitted for approval using the format "TRIP COVER LETTER - COMPANY NAME, LAST NAME." Tips on writing cover letters can be found at https://hiretulane.tulane.edu/career-information/cover-letters. Please address all cover letters to Dear Hiring Manager, unless you know for certain who is receiving the cover letter. At minimum, your cover letter should address the following questions:
  • Why are you interested in this position?
  • What skills do you currently possess that you feel will help you succeed in this position?
  • What do you hope to learn from this internship?
  • Is there anything else about you outside of what's on your resume that you'd like for the employer to know? (Creativity is encouraged with this question).

FALL REMOTE INTERNSHIP TIMELINE

Monday, August 20 – Thursday, September 6: Open Application Period
* While this is a deadline, resumes may be reviewed in real time, so it is in your best interest to submit as soon as possible. Also remember that your resume will need to be reviewed and approved prior to submitting.

Friday, September 7 - Monday, September 10: Interview Selection Period for Employers

By Wednesday, September 12: Interviews Announced to Selected Students

Wednesday, September 12 - Sunday, September 23: Interview Period (Skype and Phone, not In Person)

Monday, September 24: Selections Announced
* Students cannot accept offers until all of your interviews have been completed.

Tuesday, September 25: Determine Travel Dates with Employer

Wednesday, September 26: Book Travel with Tulane Staff

Tuesday, September 25 - Monday, October 1: Intern On-Boarding Period (Project Descriptions Finalized)

Monday, October 1 and Tuesday, October 2: Mandatory Virtual Orientation Sessions for Students

Monday, October 8: Remote Internships Begin

Thursday, October 11 - Friday, October 12: Company Site Visit & Onboarding (paid for by Tulane)
* Unless otherwise noted on the internship descriptions, the intern will travel to the company and its city for a site visit on Thursday, October 11 and/or Friday, October 12. This is required and you are responsible for fulfilling this unless approved PRIOR to you submitting your application.

SPORTS 1 MARKETING: DIGITAL MARKETING REMOTE INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION



Company Description: S1Media House’s (“S1MH”) mission is to create and distribute content positioned for today’s digital age that promotes business opportunities for our clients and partners. Our main objective is to make a lot of money, help a lot of people, and have a lot of fun. We align ourselves with partners that share our core values and every project we work on has a charitable component

Internship Description: The S1MH Internship Program is a holistic program designed to give students an intensive immersion in the exciting and challenging world of sports and to teach our four core principles 1) Gratitude, 2) Empathy, 3) Accountability, and 4) Effective Communication. Undergraduates accepted into the program are each entrusted with a live, media project to own and execute over the course of the semester. Each intern receives a customized learning plan to ensure they get the right levels of coaching, mentorship, and formal training as they deliver their work at S1MH.

S1MH is looking for digital marketing interns. The internship program runs for one semester. The position is unpaid, and for course credit only. As a digital marketing intern, one will gain skills, knowledge and valuable experience in many professional aspects including, but not limited to: website development and maintenance, how to use and maximize search engine optimization (SEO) marketing campaigns, content creation, and other general office administration.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Work with team members to understand & develop digital marketing strategies that will meet client objectives
  • Assist in maintenance of various websites and blogs
  • Learn SEO best practices and write meta content
  • Content creation, including blogs, social media, and email campaigns
  • Assist in execution of various email campaigns
  • General administrative work
  • Initiate and be willing to take on responsibilities beyond the scope of the job description
  • Assist in additional projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications Include:
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to draft correspondence
  • Outstanding organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels
  • Ability to handle confidential matters discreetly
  • Ability to handle pressures of fast paced work environment and work well under pressure and within deadlines.
  • Experience in sports, sports marketing, sports business, is a plus

Technical Capabilities Include:
  • Must know After Effects
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
  • Understanding of Wordpress, Magento, Drupla, or equivalent CMS
  • Basic knowledge of e-mail marketing
  • Understanding of CRM platforms (Dynamics, Salesforce, Zoho, Pipedrive, etc..)
  • Basic understanding of HTML and web language
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience running social media campaigns, including content-creation, analytics, and optimization strategies
  • Basic understanding of SEO
  • Knowledge of Video Editing Software (Adobe Premier Pro, Final Cut, Avid).
