PROGRAM DETAILS

# of Applications: Students are only allowed to apply to THREE Remote Internships. If you apply for more than three you will be disqualified from the program. Students can search through other Remote Internships by viewing the Handshake employer, Tulane Remote Internship Program, or on the Remote Internship Website: https://careerwave.tulane.edu/trip/

Orientation Sessions: If selected, you MUST attend one of our virtual orientation sessions on September 27 or 28.

Credit/Reflection Papers: Remote Interns will receive academic credit for the internship and are required to complete a reflection at the end of the semester, due on December 17. These internships are unpaid.

Required Site Visit during Fall Break: Remote Interns will make a site visit to their company and city with expenses paid by Tulane during Fall Break (October 10 or 11). Applicants should not make alternative plans for Fall Break until they are notified that they are not selected for interviews (all interview candidates will be announced on September 10) or for participation in the program after the interview rounds (all intern selections will be made on or before September 24).

Office Hours: Remote Interns will work 6-10 hours per week, based on employer preferences. Remote Interns will work remotely from the location of your and your employer's choice (on campus, coffee shop, dorm room/apartment, etc.) Remote interns will set weekly office hours with employers, log daily hours and work summaries, and complete online check-ins for Tulane as a part of the internship process.

Resume (Required): Each of these internships require an approved Handshake resume. In order for our career center staff to expedite the review and approval of your resume, please upload your resume in the following format - "TRIP - LAST NAME, RESUME". Once your resume is approved, you can use the same resume for all of your submissions. Resume approval can take up to 48 hours, so do not wait until the last minute to submit. IE if your resume requires additional work based on career center staff suggestions, if you want until 2 days before deadline to submit, you still might not have an approved resume by program deadline. Information about creating effective and approved resumes can be found at http://careerwave.tulane.edu/tripdocumentguide/.

Cover Letters (Required): Cover letters - written individually for each internship, should be submitted for approval using the format "TRIP COVER LETTER - COMPANY NAME, LAST NAME." Tips on writing cover letters can be found at http://careerwave.tulane.edu/tripdocumentguide/. Please address all cover letters to Dear Hiring Manager, unless you know for certain who is receiving the cover letter. At minimum, your cover letter should address the following questions:
  • Why are you interested in this position?
  • What skills do you currently possess that you feel will help you succeed in this position?
  • What do you hope to learn from this internship?
  • Is there anything else about you outside of what's on your resume that you'd like for the employer to know? (Creativity is encouraged with this question).

COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Our mission is to transform the existing charity model by connecting individuals directly with those in need in a customizable, transparent, and impactful way. What makes one2one unique is that for the first time, one individual’s donation directly for the benefit of another can be tax-deductible.  Our model allows Donors to choose causes that matter to them (ALS, education, veterans, foster care, housing, hunger, cancer...anything), select the donees to be funded, and observe the impact on the individual(s) they help.

How It Works:
When a Donor approaches one2one with a cause in mind, our team immediately begins the search process, and obtains a suitable pool of donees. The process includes applications containing personal statements, financials and references, and interviews are conducted as well. A detailed, confidential summary of donees is then presented to the Donor, who can choose one or more donees to fund. Once a match is made, one2one uses the funds to assist the donee directly, either by paying a service provider (a medical expense, a utility, a school, a mortgage company, a car leasing company), or by making purchases for them (a computer, an appliance, a hotel stay, a car, groceries, home furnishings, a prosthetic). The donees are incredibly grateful, and through one2one, can opt to stay connected with their Donors, either through videos, thank you notes, providing academic reports, sending emails, or even meeting for coffee.

Our Stories:
one2one’s guiding philosophy is that compelling human stories can create lasting positive impact for a Donor as well as serve as a “call to action” for those on the sidelines.  The stories that have come out of this launch have been truly amazing and touching, and how we are personalizing charitable giving really seems to resonate with our Donors and donees alike. We are confident that what we are doing is and will be a real “disruptor” in the philanthropy space. It has been very affirming this past year to have established two programs for HBO as a corporate Donor, to have presented at the UBS Philanthropy Forum, to have enabled Donors to fund the salary of a neonatal nurse in Manchester NH to help babies born into the opioid crisis, to be partnering with an incredible company providing clean water where needed, and to have partnered with almost 70 amazing organizations, just to name a few things.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTIONThe intern should assist with the marketing efforts of one2one including content creation and editing to convey our Mission and any specific message. Candidates must be enthusiastic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, have excellent communication and research skills, and an interest in learning about, among other things, nonprofit fundraising and program development in a traditional and ever-changing social landscape.
