Title V Maternal and Child Health Program Coordinator (SPHTM)


The Office of Public Health (OPH) – Bureau of Family Health (BFH), through Southeast Louisiana Area Health Education Center, is seeking to fill a full-time contract position as Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Program Coordinator. This contract position includes a comprehensive benefits package. This position will report directly to the Title V Strategy Manager. We desire an employee who is extremely organized and meticulous with details and possesses excellent interpersonal skills to join our team. The Title V MCH Program Coordinator will assist the Title V Strategy Manager with the facilitation of the comprehensive 5-year needs assessment and ongoing needs assessment activities, the implementation of the state action plan, monitoring key performance and outcome measures, and the timely completion of the MCH Block Grant Application/Annual Report. This federal block grant is awarded to states to improve the health and well-being of mothers, infants, children and youth, including children and youth with special health care needs and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compiles necessary information for the needs assessment, application, and reporting processes through collaboration with other employees, database research, and other fact finding actions and meetings.
  • Conducts internal and external environmental scans; performs literature reviews; updates digital management dashboard; and conducts surveys.
  • Assists with the completion of all required documents, forms, or reports required by the grant.
  • Develops communication channels to share findings in an easily accessible formant for various internal and external partners.
  • Develops a regular reporting schedule for work groups, facilitates communication, and provides technical assistance to team members.

Required Education and Experience:
· A Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional level experience in administrative services, economics, public health, public relations, social services, health services, or surveying and/or assessing health or social service programs or facilities for compliance with state and federal regulations.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • · Master’s degree in public health or related field.
  • · Experience with formative research methods.
  • · Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • · Strong writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • · Experience writing and/or managing federal grants.
